Bitcoin ETF Inflows Hit Nine Straight Days as Futures Demand Collapses

Bitcoin ETF inflows have now run for nine straight sessions, but a key demand signal is fading. Bitcoin traded above $83,400 on 30 September. That is below its eight-month high of about $87,400.

US spot Bitcoin ETFs took in roughly $3 billion over the nine sessions, according to Invezz. About $2.4 billion arrived in the week to 25 September. That is steady, institutional buying.

Why Bitcoin ETF inflows may not be enough

The derivatives market tells a different story. Speculative futures growth fell about 90% in 15 days. It dropped from 164,000 BTC on 14 September to 16,000 BTC on 29 September.

Recent buyers also sit on large paper gains. Unrealised profits reached 33%, the highest since December 2024. That invites profit-taking. Julio Moreno of CryptoQuant said that without fresh demand, rallies struggle to extend.

Technical analysts see a similar split. One daily read puts the price near a pivot of $83,372. Support sits around $81,964. Resistance is close to $83,789. Momentum indicators show the trend intact but the thrust fading. The Fear and Greed Index reads 71, in greed territory.

Macro pressure

Bitcoin has held firm despite rising US Treasury yields. Oil is above $100 a barrel. Markets expect more interest-rate hikes. These are usually poor conditions for risk assets. Steady ETF demand appears to be cushioning the price.

Sonali Gupta of AMINA Bank said that holding the $83,000 to $86,000 range while inflows continue would signal a stronger recovery. A break below could change the tone quickly.

The wider market is worth watching. Total crypto capitalisation sits near $2.9 trillion, and Bitcoin’s share is about 58%. Our earlier note on Bitcoin sliding toward $84,000 shows the coin has traded in a narrow band for days.

The tension is clear. Long-term holders and funds are buying. Short-term speculators are stepping back. Which side wins will decide whether the next move is a breakout or a slide.
