Bitcoin ETF outflows continue as price stalls near $82,000
Bitcoin ETF outflows continued last week, a sign that big investors remain cautious. Bitcoin traded near $82,620 early on 19 October, up about 1.2% in 24 hours, according to The Crypto Times.
XTB’s morning wrap said US spot Bitcoin ETFs saw a second straight week of outflows. They lost $229 million last week after $681 million the week before. Ethereum traded around $2,425.
A tight range
Bitcoin has been stuck in a narrow band. Daily ranges have mostly run between about $80,700 and $84,000. Barchart said on 19 October that daily Bollinger Band width is among the tightest in 2.5 years.
Tight bands often precede a bigger move. They do not say which way it will go. Analyst Axel Adler Jr. put the upper edge near $86,000 and the lower edge near $81,900 on 14 October.
What hit prices last week
A hotter-than-expected US September CPI reading pushed Bitcoin below $81,000 and triggered leveraged liquidations. We covered the run-up in our earlier Bitcoin report. Liquidations reached hundreds of millions of dollars in single sessions.
The wider market is shaky too. The Nasdaq had a rough week, and oil prices stay near $108 a barrel. The XTB report says a December Fed rate hike is almost fully priced in. Higher rates tend to hurt risk assets, including crypto.
The longer view
Bitcoin remains far below its record near $126,200, set in October 2025. It also sits well above its summer low near $58,000. October trading has tested about $86,500.
In Thailand, regulators now allow crypto ETFs to hold Bitcoin or Ethereum directly from 16 October. Each fund may hold only one of the two, the Thai Enquirer reports. That may widen access in Asia.
The week ahead brings earnings from Netflix, Tesla, Meta and IBM. Traders will watch whether tech sentiment steadies. For live prices, see The Crypto Times report.
