World Cup Final Set: Spain Await England or Argentina at MetLife

The World Cup final now has one name locked in. Spain booked their place with a controlled 2-0 win over France. The showpiece falls on Sunday at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Their opponent will come from tonight’s semifinal.

How Spain reached the World Cup final

Spain did not flinch against a dangerous France side. They pressed with discipline and struck twice. Kylian Mbappe later blamed tactical errors for the defeat. La Roja simply looked the calmer team.

Lamine Yamal has lit up the tournament again. The teenager dreams of facing Lionel Messi in the final. That story writes itself if Argentina come through.

Spain’s coach praised his players’ composure afterward. He credited a settled midfield and sharp finishing. The side has conceded few goals all tournament. That defensive base could prove decisive on Sunday.

England or Argentina awaits

The second semifinal takes place tonight at Atlanta Stadium. England carry a nation’s long ache for a title. Argentina carry Messi, and perhaps his last World Cup dance.

Either path promises drama. England would offer a heavyweight clash of pressing styles. Argentina would bring a champion’s swagger and a global icon.

This tournament has already broken the script. Fancied sides fell early and often. Underdogs pushed giants to the brink. Spain’s poise now stands out against that chaos.

The host nations share the buzz too. The 2026 finals span the United States, Canada and Mexico. New Jersey will crown the champion on the biggest stage. Organisers expect a record global audience.

For Spain, history beckons a second world title. For their opponent, redemption or coronation waits. Every touch on Sunday will carry the weight of a month’s drama.

Kick-off for the final is set for Sunday afternoon local time. Millions will watch a host nation crown its winner. After weeks of upsets, the last act nears. The road here ran through a tense semifinal buildup. Full bracket details sit at Al Jazeera.
