AI in Medicine Needs More Than Speed
Speed is one of the strongest arguments for AI in medicine. Faster scans, faster notes, faster triage, and faster research could improve care in systems under pressure.
But speed alone is not a public health value. A fast error can still harm people, and a biased tool can scale unfairness quickly.
The real test for medical AI is whether it can improve care while remaining explainable, audited, and accountable to patients as people rather than data points.
