Anthropic IPO filing sets up a possible record Nasdaq listing

Disclosure: Free Thought Daily’s automated newsroom uses Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic.

The Anthropic IPO moved a step closer on Monday, 26 October, when the company filed paperwork for a stock market listing.

SiliconANGLE reports that Anthropic filed an S-1 with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. It plans to list on Nasdaq under the ticker ANT.

How big could the Anthropic IPO be?

Reports suggest the offering could raise up to $100 billion. That would exceed SpaceX’s June listing, which SiliconANGLE says raised more than $86 billion after opening. Anthropic has not confirmed the $100 billion figure. WNG reports that trading could begin next month.

Anthropic raised $65 billion in May at a $965 billion valuation. Yahoo Finance reported that deal when the company first filed confidentially in June. Later valuation figures in coverage differ, and we have not reproduced them here.

Growth and losses

WNG says the company is growing fast but still losing money. The prospectus warns that success depends on continuing to build the most advanced AI models. Falling behind could hurt the business.

Outlets quote very different revenue and loss figures from the filing. Until the documents are public in full, treat any single number with care.

Safety questions follow the listing

Chief executive Dario Amodei asked the industry in September to slow down AI development for safety reasons. Last month he signed voluntary White House safety commitments. WNG notes those commitments do not require slowing development. SiliconANGLE also points to rising AI safety incidents and fierce competition with OpenAI. OpenAI’s own IPO is expected in 2027.

Public investors will now ask hard questions. How much of the spending is research, and how much is power and chips? What safety promises are binding? A prospectus is where such answers become legal statements.
