Bitcoin Price Slips Toward $84,000 After $87,000 Rejection

The bitcoin price slid toward $84,000 on Wednesday after another rejection at $87,000. CoinGecko showed bitcoin near $84,274, down 1.2 percent over 24 hours. The daily range ran from $83,648 to $86,648.

Tuesday’s morning level was higher. CoinDesk listed bitcoin at $85,961 early on 6 October, with market capitalisation near $1.73 trillion. The drop since then has erased those gains.

What is pushing the bitcoin price lower

Technical analysts see a break in support. CaptainAltcoin reports that bitcoin fell below $85,700 and now trades near $84,200. It sees a likely range between $82,600 and $85,300. Its relative strength index reading of about 44 points to weak momentum. A recovery would need bitcoin to reclaim $85,300.

Macro pressure is also visible. CoinDesk notes that US Treasury yields sit around 5 percent. The dollar is at an 18-month high. Spot bitcoin ETFs recorded about $90 million in outflows. Higher yields and a strong dollar tend to pull money from risk assets.

Stocks tell a different story. US equities are hovering near record highs. That contrast suggests investors currently prefer shares to crypto.

The long view remains cautious. Bitcoin is roughly 32 percent below its record of $126,000 set in early October 2025. Resistance at $87,000 has now held several times.

Other tokens are range-bound. XRP trades between $1.45 and $1.55. Cardano sits near $0.25 after touching $0.28 on Tuesday.

Readers should treat short-term levels with care. Analysts’ ranges can change within hours. Data sources also differ by a few hundred dollars depending on timing.

Traders will watch Treasury yields and ETF flows next. Yesterday’s analysis in Bitcoin $87,000 resistance holds as the dollar strengthens set out the same backdrop. Today’s move adds a break of short-term support.
