Goldman Sachs Crypto ETF Push Grows With $2.25 Billion Deal
The Goldman Sachs crypto ETF ambitions just grew sharply. The bank agreed to buy NEOS Investments in a deal valued at up to $2.25 billion. The purchase hands Goldman a ready-made suite of digital-asset funds.
NEOS runs three crypto options-income ETFs. The line-up includes Bitcoin and Ether products. Goldman folds them into its large asset-management arm.
What the Goldman Sachs crypto ETF deal signals
The move marks another step by Wall Street into digital assets. A major bank is buying scale rather than building it. That choice shows how fast the ETF market has matured.
Options-income funds appeal to yield-hungry investors. They sell options against holdings to generate cash payouts. Wrapping that strategy around Bitcoin and Ether targets a specific buyer.
The timing sits inside a busy week for crypto finance. Fidelity filed to stake Ether inside its spot fund. That plan would let the fund stake up to 100% of its holdings while keeping liquidity for redemptions.
Regulators are moving in parallel. The US Securities and Exchange Commission scheduled a meeting on crypto investment-contract rules. Clearer standards could reshape how tokens are offered.
Prices, meanwhile, stayed subdued. Bitcoin traded near $63,000. Ether hovered just under $1,900, with its ETFs still drawing modest inflows.
The broader policy backdrop remains unsettled. A key US crypto market bill slipped toward September, a delay Free Thought Daily reported earlier this week. Institutions are building anyway.
For Goldman, the bet is structural. It wants distribution, products and fees in a market it once approached with caution. The NEOS deal buys all three at once.
