Strategy bitcoin purchase and Strive buy add 2,773 BTC as prices dip
A Strategy bitcoin purchase of 1,665 BTC landed on Monday, even as the price slid. Rival treasury firm Strive added 1,107 BTC the same day.
Together the two firms bought 2,773 coins. The Rio Times reports that Strategy paid $142.7 million and Strive paid $94.5 million. That is more than $237 million of fresh buying in one session.
The Strategy bitcoin purchase in context
Strategy’s stack now stands at 847,666 BTC, according to Cointelegraph. That is more than 4% of bitcoin’s total supply. Strive’s holdings rose to 27,462 BTC, per Cryptonomist.
The buying came against a weak market. Bitcoin settled at $83,503 on 28 September, down 1.13%. Ether closed at $2,689, up 0.06%.
Solana fell 2.64% to $118.84. XRP dropped 1.45% to $1.4963.
Why prices are under pressure
The Rio Times links the dip to geopolitics. President Trump rejected Iran’s ceasefire proposal. Brent crude then rose above $105 a barrel.
Higher oil feeds inflation worries. The US 10-year Treasury yield climbed to 5.24%. A stronger dollar added to the pressure. Investors tend to favour yield over assets that pay nothing, and that weighs on bitcoin.
This is a new development on the story we covered yesterday. Prices have edged lower again, but the notable change is corporate demand. Treasury firms keep buying dips rather than selling into them.
Strategy has repeatedly bought during weak spells, and Strive is following a similar playbook. Both firms hold bitcoin as a long-term treasury asset. That approach carries risk if prices fall for long.
That does not guarantee a rebound. Corporate buyers can slow down, and some rely on financing that costs more when yields rise. Watch oil, yields and the dollar for the next move.
