Crypto Clarity Act Vote Slips to September in US Senate

The Crypto Clarity Act vote has slipped to September after the US Senate pushed back its timetable. The delay stalls what would be the first comprehensive federal rulebook for digital assets.

The bill would split oversight of tokens and set clearer lines between the SEC and commodity regulators. Backers say it would end years of guesswork for exchanges and issuers.

Markets took the news quietly. Bitcoin traded near $63,700 on Tuesday, easing from last week. Ether sat around $1,915 and XRP near $1.03.

Why the Crypto Clarity Act delay matters

Rules shape where money flows. Without a federal framework, firms face a patchwork of state and agency positions. That uncertainty has long pushed some builders offshore.

Even so, institutional demand keeps climbing. Investors poured billions into ether exchange-traded funds over July and August, and monthly ether ETF inflows recently overtook bitcoin’s for the first time.

The SEC has signalled it wants a “fit-for-purpose” approach for token issuers rather than the old securities template. That hints at simpler compliance, if lawmakers can agree on the text.
