Bitcoin ETF inflows return $110m as price hovers near $80,000
Bitcoin ETF inflows returned on Monday, ending a sharp two-day run of withdrawals. US spot funds took in about $110 million, according to SoSoValue data cited by Cointelegraph.
Bitcoin traded near $79,595 at the time of that report. That is down about 2.6 percent over seven days and just under the $80,000 level traders watch closely.
What the Bitcoin ETF inflows mean
The Monday inflow followed roughly $774 million in combined outflows over the two previous sessions. CoinTurk put the Thursday figure at $635.5 million and Friday at $137.9 million.
The month still looks weak. Cointelegraph says US spot Bitcoin ETFs are down about $202 million net in October, even after Monday’s rebound. Bitcoin also sits about 36 percent below its record of $126,080, per CoinGecko data cited by CoinTurk.
Sentiment is neutral. The Crypto Fear and Greed Index slipped from 50 to 48.
Who is buying?
CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost found a split. Retail deposits to Binance nearly doubled to about $10.8 billion over 30 days. Deposits from larger holders fell to about $3.8 billion.
Deposits are not purchases. Coins sent to an exchange can be sold or traded. The data shows activity, not intent. Analysts often read rising retail deposits as a sign of late-cycle enthusiasm, but that is an interpretation, not a fact.
Traders also point to price levels. CoinTurk cited $82,000 as a level bitcoin needs to hold for a bullish outlook, and $75,000 as key support if it falls.
The Fed looms
The US Federal Reserve decision is due this week, CoinTurk reported. Rate expectations and the dollar tend to move risk assets. We covered the pressure on prices in our piece on bitcoin below $80,000 and liquidations. Another firm, Strategy, paused its buying, as we reported in our Strategy report.
One day of inflows does not make a trend. Watch the next few sessions of ETF data and the Fed’s language on rates.
