SSC Result 2026 Shows Pass Rate Falling to 62.25%

The SSC result 2026 was published on Sunday, showing a pass rate of 62.25 percent. Officials released the figures at a Ministry of Education ceremony in Dhaka. The rate fell from 66.33 percent last year.

That decline of about four percentage points has drawn attention. It marks a notable drop across the eleven education boards. Educators are already debating the causes.

What the SSC result 2026 numbers show

The SSC result 2026 covered 1,829,485 examinees. Of those, 1,138,877 passed the examinations. A total of 116,676 students secured the top grade of GPA-5.

Girls again outperformed boys. Among female candidates, 66.68 percent passed. Among male candidates, the rate was 57.86 percent.

The gap between the sexes remains striking. More girls sat and more girls passed. That pattern has held for several years in Bangladesh.

Under the nine general boards, the pass rate reached 64.05 percent. That figure also slipped from the previous year. Board officials pointed to stricter marking in some subjects.

Results shape the next stage for millions. Students now compete for places in colleges. Families across the country watched the announcements closely.

The decline invites scrutiny of classroom conditions. Disruptions in recent years have strained schooling. Analysts will look at attendance, teaching and exam standards.

The government has promised reviews for aggrieved candidates. Students may apply for rechecking within the set window. The wider debate over quality will continue. For context on the country turbulent period, see our report on the July uprising second anniversary.

Teacher groups have urged calm analysis rather than blame. They note that a single year rarely tells the whole story. Curriculum changes and exam reforms can move the figures. Rural schools often face the sharpest resource gaps. Officials say they will study board-by-board data in detail. Support for weaker centres may follow. Parents, meanwhile, are focused on the next admissions round.

The ceremony drew ministers, teachers and anxious families. Many pupils checked results online within minutes. The mood mixed relief with disappointment across the country.
